Nicole M. McKevett, Ph.D., is an MTSS specialist and leader in math systems improvement. She partners with state agencies and districts to design and implement MTSS-Math systems that strengthen instruction, assessment, and data-based decisions.
- Multi-tiered systems of support and system-level implementation
- Evidence-based mathematics instruction and intervention (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3)
- Assessment systems, including universal screening, progress monitoring, and diagnostic assessment
- Data-based decision making and Data-Based Individualization (DBI) to intensify instruction
- Professional learning, coaching, and implementation supports for instructional improvement
Nicole M. McKevett, Ph.D., is an MTSS Support Specialist at the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI), where she leads professional learning, technical assistance, and applied research to support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in mathematics and literacy. Her work focuses on helping schools and districts build coherent, evidence-based systems that strengthen core instruction, intervention, and assessment practices.
Dr. McKevett specializes in MTSS-Math, with an emphasis on evidence-based instruction, assessment, and data-based decision making. She supports educators in strengthening Tier 1 instruction, designing effective Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, and using data, including screening, progress monitoring, and diagnostic assessment, to improve and intensify instruction.
She is a lead developer of CAREI’s mathematics professional learning and system implementation work and partners with state agencies, districts, and school leadership teams to build sustainable systems that improve student outcomes. Prior to joining CAREI, she worked as a school psychologist, supporting students and educators across a range of instructional settings.
